(Updated: Nov. 21, 2025, 10:54 a.m.)
The winter months often arrive with many holidays and festive events which means schedules are busy, budgets are tight, and health goals might slide to the back of our minds. Meal prep can help alleviate these issues so you can better enjoy the season.

Benefits of Winter Meal Prep:

  • Saves time in preparation of ingredients/cooking
  • Saves money by preparing affordable meals at home
  • More control over quick, healthy meal and snack options
  • Ability to portion control
  • Reduce stress of last minute decisions on what to make for dinner or rushing through preparing a meal

Recipes to Try:

  • Slow Cooker Chicken Teriyaki - This recipe can be made ahead of time and frozen in gallon sized freezer bags. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and pour ingredients into a slow cooker to reheat. (See page 13 of the recipe booklet linked above.)
  • Slow Cooker Borracho Beans - This recipe can be divided into freezer containers with just enough liquid to cover the beans. When ready to use thaw them in the refrigerator overnight and reheat in slow cooker. (See page 16 of the recipe booklet linked above.)
  • Vegetable Stock - Have leftover vegetables? Consider freezing leftover vegetables such as the ones in this recipe prepare a stock later. You could also prepare the stock now and store in leak proof freezer containers for later use.
