You can now have N.C. Cooperative Extension, Randolp County Center and Randolph County Ag Center news and updates while driving, pulling weeds, walking the dog, or whenever you like to tune in!

We are excited to kick off this avenue of reaching our community with research-based education with some fun thrown in along the way. Episodes will consist of interview-style-based talks with our county agents as well as guests from the other departments within the Ag Center. We look forward to connecting with you and invite you to take a listen!

In our very first episode, we’re opening the doors to the Randolph County Agricultural Center and giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what this space is all about. Join us as we share the mission of the Ag Center, the departments housed inside, and the many ways our team serves the community through education, resources, and hands-on support.

Whether you’re a longtime local, a curious newcomer, or someone who’s always wondered what Cooperative Extension actually does—this episode is your starting point. We’ll break it down in a way that’s simple, helpful, and easy to follow… because this center was built for everyone.

Episode 2: Extension 101 – What We Actually Do. 
You’ve probably heard the name Cooperative Extension… but what does it actually mean, and how does it show up in everyday life here in Randolph County? In this episode of Under The Green, we break it all down in plain language.

From supporting farmers and gardeners to working with youth, families, and landowners, this conversation highlights the wide range of ways Extension serves our community—often behind the scenes. We talk about the most common reasons people reach out for help, what a “day in the life” of Extension work really looks like, and how the Agricultural Center makes these resources more accessible than ever.

If you’ve ever wondered whether Extension has something for you, this episode will help you see just how connected this work is to daily life—and how easy it is to get started.

Episode 3: Inside the Food Hub!
In this episode of Under The Green, we talk about the inspiration behind the Food Hub, the purpose it will serve, and the hopes for how it will support local farmers, improve food access, and strengthen our community once it’s up and running. This conversation gives a behind-the-scenes look at the why before the doors officially open.

Episode 4: Commercial Kitchen: Cooking Up Opportunity!
In this episode of Under The Green, we take a closer look at the Commercial Kitchen at the Randolph County Agricultural Center and the opportunity it creates for food-based businesses in our community. Designed to support producers, entrepreneurs, caterers, and value-added agriculture ventures, this space provides access to a licensed, fully equipped facility that can help turn ideas into viable products.

We discuss who can rent the kitchen, how it works, and the broader economic impact it’s intended to support across Randolph County. Whether you’re developing a product, scaling production, or exploring what’s possible, this conversation offers a clear look at the purpose behind the space.

Episode 5: 4-H: Growing Leaders!
In this episode of Under The Green, we sit down with Randolph County 4-H Agent Allison Walker Allen to explore what 4-H really is and why it continues to shape young leaders across our community. From its national mission to hands-on programs happening right here in Randolph County, this conversation highlights how 4-H reaches thousands of youth through school programs, community clubs, summer activities, and special interest projects.

We talk about the many opportunities available through 4-H — from livestock projects and shooting sports to robotics, drones, cooking, and public speaking — and how these experiences help young people develop confidence, leadership, and real-world life skills that carry well into adulthood.

Episode 7: Horticulture: What You Should Be Doing Right Now
Spring is here, and this episode of Under The Green is packed with exactly what Randolph County gardeners need right now. From when to plant summer vegetables and how to handle lawn fertilization, to low-maintenance landscape picks, common spring pests, and the raised bed vs. in-ground debate, Cody Craddock shares timely, practical advice that can save gardeners time, money, and frustration.

Episode 9: 4-H Summer at the Ag Center!
Summer just got a whole lot more exciting. In this episode of Under The Green, we break down everything families need to know about Randolph County 4-H summer day camps—from what’s offered and who it’s for, to how to sign up and key deadlines you don’t want to miss. 

We’re also introducing our newest 4-H Agent, Jenni May, and sharing how these programs go beyond fun to build confidence, life skills, and lasting memories for youth across our community.
