The Randolph County Agricultural Center: Funding Sources

(As of February 8, 2024)

The Randolph County Agricultural Center project was initiated in June 2021 after previous attempts to fund an “Ag Center” in Randolph County failed.  An influx of federal funding for infrastructure projects came to NC from COVID-19 relief funding.  Representative Allen McNeill contacted Randolph County County Commissioners and asked if there was interest in seeking funding to revive the “Ag Center” Project.  Kenneth Sherin, County Extension Director and Extension Center staff, provided a new vision through their conceptual plan document for the Randolph County Agricultural Center to Representative McNeill to support his funding proposal in the state budget process. With Representative McNeill's leadership and the support of other state representatives, including NC Senator Dave Craven, funding the center has gotten off to a great start.  The current cost estimate from the architects is approximately $35.1 Million.

The table below is an “accounting” of current funds acquired to build the center.  All of this information is in the public domain, either in NC State Budget Documents or Randolph County Broad of Commissioners Meeting Agendas but below is a summary.  Other funding sources are being sought to bring the project across the finish line.
