Safe Plates Certification Class

What is Safe Plates?

Safe Plates is a food safety certification course designed by N.C. State University. Certification is based on successfully passing the ANSI-approved exam from the NRFSP (National Registry of Food Safety Professionals). This certification meets the NC requirements for a certified food protection manager.

Who can take this class?

This course was designed for anyone starting up a food business and those working in food service in restaurants, shared use kitchens, nursing homes, hospitals, schools, etc.

Where will this course be held?

This course will be held in person at the Randolph County Agricultural Center.

May 2026:Day 1 & 2 - 9am -4pm

Day 3 - 9am -12 noon

Registration Fee: $150 paid online at registration

  • Books and classes will be in English.
    • Spanish tests are available upon advanced notice. (Send requests to Jennifer Holmes at j_holmes@ncsu.edu by 4/10/26.)

Safe Plates certification course coming up May 18th through 20th at the Randolph County Agricultural Center located at 1180 US Highway 64 East in Asheboro. Cost is $150.00. Register on Eventbrite. Days 1 and 2 are from 9am to 4pm. Day 3 is from 9am to 12.
