Recently the North Carolina Department of Transportation had to initiate a public hearing regarding condemning land that has been accepted and is marked as being in the Voluntary Agricultural District. The public hearing was held and there was a 10-day period during which the public could submit comments about the condemnation. Once the 10-day period ended, the Voluntary Agricultural District Board reconvened to review the comments and finalize the report that will be sent to the Department of Transportation and the landowner. That report is a public record.
