Additional Hands-on Activities
Below are additional hands-on electric activities. The materials are not provided, but can be purchased from electronic hobby stores. Detailed lesson plans can be provided if needed.
- Electric Motor:
4-H’ers and youth will learn how an electric motor runs and will learn about the parts of a motor through the construction of a DC motor.
- Model Rocket:
4-H members will learn the mechanics of building and launching a model rocket.
- Shortwave Radio:
The objective of this project is to understand the basics of constructing electronic circuits and how sound waves are transmitted and received over great distances.
- Electric Hotbed:
Youth will construct a bed to heat soil for earlier and more uniform seed germination for early plant production.
The objective of this project is to understand the principles of open and closed circuits and the basics of DC power.
- Security Box:
4-H’ers will understand the concepts of open and closed circuits.
