Join us for a series of home food preservation classes that will include learning to can sweet spreads, a pickling class, and how to pressure can. Canning is an art and a fun skill to learn. We will offer three canning sessions this season. Participants will pick the sessions they want to attend and register for each session separately. Please see the description of each session below along with the registration links for the sessions. All classes will be held at the Edgecombe Extension Office at 201 St. Andrew St. Tarboro, NC. The registration fee is $10.00 for each class. Click on the session title to register for the class.

Sweet Spreads Canning Class

This class is designed for anyone interested in learning more about safely making jams, jellies, and other sweet spreads at home. This hands-on class will cover types of sweet spreads, how to prepare sweet spreads safely, and troubleshooting.

This class is designed for anyone interested in learning more about safely making pickles at home. This hands-on class will cover how to prepare pickles and other pickled products safely, and troubleshooting.

Pressure Canning Class

This workshop is designed for anyone interested in learning more about safely canning food at home. This hands-on class will cover foods appropriate for pressure canning, equipment needs, and safe tested recipes.
