Randolph County youth have the opportunity to learn about animal care, responsibility, and showing poultry and/or rabbits through the Randolph County 4-H Chicken & Rabbit Chain Program. This hands-on program is a great way for young people to get started with poultry or rabbits while learning valuable life skills.
Participants will learn the basics of raising, caring for, and showing chickens and rabbits. Along the way, youth develop skills in animal husbandry, record keeping, responsibility, and confidence as they work with their animals and prepare for potential show opportunities.
Through this program, youth can choose to adopt animals and begin their own small livestock project:
- $25 to adopt 10 chicks
- $25 to adopt 1 Rex rabbit
The program will begin with an educational meeting and animal pick-up, where youth and families will receive important information about caring for their animals, housing needs, feeding, and what to expect throughout the project.
