Randolph County 2023 On-Farm Trial Results

This year we have had a record number of on-farm research trials in Randolph County!
  • 2 demonstration trials
  • 2 foliar fungicide trials
  • 1 wildlife deterrent trial
  • 2 fertilizer trials
  • 1 tillage trial
The results of these trials can be found below. The foliar fungicide trial results will be posted around January 2024. Thank you to all the producers that participated.

The treatments were not significantly different from one another in these trials. While the soybeans had high yield potential early in the year, the weather turned dry shortly after the fertilizer applications were made. The treated plants were likely not able to mobilize the nutrients throughout the plant effectively and did not increase yield this year.

The strip-till treatment did not significantly increase corn yield as compared to the no-till treatment. Compaction was decreased at planting and plant heights were visually taller in the strip-till treatments. Further testing is needed to conclude the value of strip-till v. no-till in Randolph County.

Variety Demonstration Plot Results showings the highest yield, in order as Dekalb DKC 68-35, Dekalb DKC 66-06, and Dyna-Gro DG54VC14

Inconclusive! The plot was too damaged by deer to harvest, which may speak for itself. However, we will try this trial again next year, changing up a few things to hopefully have better results to share. Every treatment had deer damage this year.
