Description: THE MONTH OF AUGUST PRESENTS THREE OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN ABOUT PAWPAW CULTIVATION

The month of August presents three opportunities to learn about pawpaw cultivation! Forsyth County Agriculture Agent Mary Jac Brennan and Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will be giving tours of Forsyth County Cooperative Extension’s Pawpaw Demonstration Orchard at the Forsyth Agriculture Center on these dates:
  • Wednesday August 21 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday August 23 at noon (12:00 p.m.)
  • Saturday August 24 at 10:00 a.m
The orchard was planted in 2009 and has been producing fruit since 2012. The pawpaw tree produces a large fruit and is native to our region. The tree has an attractive habit of growth and is well-suited for residential gardens as well as for commercial cultivation.
Please call 336-703-2850 to register. You will need to meet in front of the Forsyth County Agriculture Center a few minutes before the start of the tour. Please wear walking shoes as the terrain is sloped and can be slippery. The tour will be cancelled in the event of rain. The orchard is looking great and we hope to see you on a tour!
The orchard is located at 1450 Fairchild Road in Winston-Salem.
