Collapse ▲Mindfulness for Kids During the Holiday Season
The holidays are a time filled with excitement, joy, and celebration, but they can also bring changes in routines, busy schedules, and big emotions for children and families. Practicing mindfulness can be a simple and fun way to slow down, find calm, and enjoy the season more fully.
Mindfulness Activities Flyer
We’ve created a Mindfulness Ideas for Kids During the Holidays flyer that includes six easy activities you can do at home, in the classroom, or during afterschool programs. These ideas use familiar holiday themes, like tracing a garland on a Christmas tree for deep breathing, pretending to sip hot cocoa, or going on a “holiday sound hunt.”
Each activity encourages children to pause, notice what’s around them, and connect with their senses. These mindful moments can help kids regulate emotions, reduce stress, and build appreciation for simple joys throughout the season.

Mindfulness Christmas Activities For Kids & Families
Natural Christmas Tree Potpourri
Along with the mindfulness flyer, we’re sharing one of our favorite hands-on seasonal activities: Natural Christmas Tree Potpourri. This project invites kids (and adults!) to explore the scents and textures of nature while creating a festive potpourri blend that makes any space smell like the holidays. It’s an engaging, sensory activity that promotes mindfulness through creativity and nature connection.

Why Mindfulness Matters
Mindfulness helps children build awareness, focus, and resilience—skills that are valuable far beyond the holidays. Simple moments of breathing, noticing, or reflecting can make a big difference in helping kids feel calm, confident, and connected.
Take a few moments this December to try one of these mindful activities with the children in your life. Sometimes, the best gift we can give is our full presence.
