States' 4-H North Carolina Internation Exchange Program

We are excited to announce our upcoming opportunity to host a student from Japan again this summer. We are hoping things are somewhat back to normal but COVID-19 travel restrictions continue to be a reality in Japan, however, our International partners are still monitoring the situation and are very positive that we will have a summer inbound program. We are ready to start our recruitment efforts.

The information for the 2022 NC 4-H International Exchange-Inbound Programs can be found on the NC 4-H website under Youth: International Programs. The information that has been provided on this site gives opportunities for families who might be interested in hosting a Japanese or Korean delegate for the duration of their stay. We are also looking for families that would be willing to host Japanese chaperones this summer as well.

NOTE: If you are unfamiliar with the program and would like to learn more, please contact us directly and I would be glad to answer any questions or address any concerns.

The direct link to the information can be found here: 2022 NC 4-H International Exchange

Specifics to the requirements for who can host, who is eligible, and other important criteria for hosting can be found on the attached flyers or on the website!

Japanese Inbound

  • We will be hosting 10 Japanese delegates and a Japanese chaperone this coming summer.
  • Applications for the Japanese program are DUE by May 22, 2022
  • Hosting dates for the Japanese delegates: July 23rd and departure on August 14, 2022 this year.

Please forward this information to your clubs, volunteers, families, and 4-H members! We are attempting to get families in place much sooner and placements for delegates well before the busy summer season begins.

As always, I am here to answer any questions or address any concerns related to the international program! Please feel free to email me or call me at the information below!

Lastly – I’m excited to announce that Caitlin (Davis) Clineff will be working with this program this year on a contract basis. Caitlin is an alumni 4-H’er from Stokes County and has hosted youth delegates, chaperones as well as traveled to Japan on a year-long exchange in addition to working at LABO headquarters in Japan. She is extremely knowledgeable of this program and excited to begin working with us. She will manage many aspects of this program once we get everything confirmed here at NC State.
