Agriculture & Food: Specialty Crops Are you a Randolph County fruit, vegetable, herb, cut flower, mushroom, or nursery crop grower; a landscaper; or an arborist? Subscribe to the Randolph County commercial horticulture listserv to get quarterly newsletters and information about upcoming events! Send an e-mail to mj2@lists.ncsu.edu and write “subscribe randolphgrowers” in the body (without quotation marks). Through the North Carolina Specialty Crops Program, a collaboration of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Marketing Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, North Carolina Cooperative Extension is teaching growers how to produce and sell crops ranging from exotic purple potatoes to lettuce, specialty melons and medicinal herbs. Growers who produce these high-value crops are able to diversify and develop new income sources.
